Al termine dell’AFP lo studente acquisirà nozioni sufficienti a discutere problematiche di etica medica, redigere un certificato di morte, eseguire un esame esterno del cadaver, procedure ad una diagnosi differenziale tra lesioni contusive, da arma da taglio e da fuoco

Conoscenze di base in Anatomia, Fisiologia, Patologia generale come richieste dal Consiglio della Scuola di Medicina e Chirurgia

L’AFP si svolgerà per il tramite di diapositive raffiguranti gli aspetti di interesse dei casi studio, esposti e discussi in maniera critica.

La verifica dell’apprendimento si basa su un quiz a risposte multiple ed esame orale sulle conoscenze di base di etica medica e medicina legale e sul ragionamento seguito dagli studenti nella discussione dei casi. La valutazione tende a verificare lo spirit critico dello studente nell’affrontare le diverse tematiche poste dalla patologia di interesse medico-legale
La prova di verifica si intederà superata con punteggio complessivo di 20. La votazione finale è espresso in 30/30 con finestra che va da un minimo di 18 punti a un massimo di 30.

- Crime scene and death investigation,
- Autopsy,
- Post-mortem changes and Time of Death,
- Personal Identification and Skeletal remains,
- Sudden death and sudden infant death syndrome,
- Blunt Trauma and Cranio-cerebral injuries,
- Fire arm injuries and Sharp force injuries, 
-Asphixial deaths and drowning.

After attending the AFP students will understand how to discuss issues of medical ethics, to assess the death, how to do an external examination of a cadaver differentiating between the main types of injuries due to blunt trauma, firearms, knife or sharp objects,.

In order to attend the course proficiently, the students will need to have a well- established background in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, as specifically indicated by the Council of the Medicine and Surgery School.

Lectures supported by presentation of slides in Power Point. Representative case studies and 
key topics will be also supported by discussion and critical reading of the most recent reviews in the field

Evaluation of student proficiency is based on both written and oral test (viva voce). The written test consists of multiple choice questions meant to evaluate the basic knowledge of legal medicine and the student’s ability to discuss medical ethics, to assess the death, to do an external examination differentiating between the main types of injuries. The questions will be as specific to evaluate the basic knowledge of the above topics. In order to pass the written part of the exam and access to the viva voce, the student must obtain a score of 20.
The oral exam will cover all the aspects of the theory of legal medicine. The student should be able to discuss on the topics and be able to connect and analyze the different subjects. The aim is to judge the knowledge as well as the critical opinion on the topic that the students should develop after the course.
In order to test the acquisition of this ability the student will be asked to solve simple clinical oriented problem, e.g recognize the cause and manner of death based on injuries and findings after autopsy and/or external examination. The final grade is expressed in 30/30 were 18 represents the minimum and 30 the maximum and it is established during the oral exam while the written test only gives access to the oral part of the exam.
