    Obiettivi formativi

    Course objectives

The course aims to introduce the student to:
    a) acquire the basic elements of the neurosurgical examination and of the approach to a neurosurgical patient
    b) know the different diagnostic procedures and differential diagnosis
    c) achieve the correct method of neurosurgical treatment

    Prerequisites

During of his previous training, it is essential that the student has already acquired the basics of surgical semeiotics as well as the theoretical notions of the surgery.

    Teaching methods

The course aims to introduce the student to the clinic and surgery of diseases of neurosurgical interest, from the onset to evolution and then to treatment as well as to management before and after surgery with notes of surgical technique and management of peri and postoperative complications. The course will allow the student to visualize in the clinical and surgical practice what has been learned from the lectures, being able to deepen with the tutors the main aspects of the same through the activities of the department and operating room.
At the end of the course the student must possess the mastery of the semiotics of the neurosurgery, both clinical and surgical, in front of the proposed cases, through surgical steps as well as the variations of the technique itself and of the expected outcomes.

    Evaluation methods

Evaluation of student proficiency is based on oral test. The oral exam covers all the aspects of the theory of neurosurgery. The student should be able to discuss on the topic and be able to connect and analyze the different subjects. In order to test the acquisition of this ability the student will be asked to solve simple clinical oriented problem, recognizing disease based on clinical manifestation. The final grade is expressed in 30/30 were 18 represents the minimum and 30 the maximum and it is established during the oral exam.
