    Obiettivi formativi

    L’insegnamento si prefigge di facilitare:
    lo sviluppo delle abilità di lettura (comprensione, analisi del testo) e di ascolto, attraverso la comprensione di testi tecnici inerenti alla pratica medica;
    l’acquisizione di uno specifico lessico e di forme grammaticali appropriati al contesto medico professionale specifico;
    Lo sviluppo della capacità espressiva per interagire in maniera corretta ed appropriata al contesto medico professionale specifico.

    Prerequisiti

    Livello di inglese B2 (CEFR).

    Metodologie didattiche

    Tutte le lezioni si svolge con “l’Approccio Comunicativo” attraverso lezioni frontali, integrando spiegazione del docente, esercitazioni individuali (lettura, esercizi grammaticali o lessici) ed esercitazioni in coppia/piccoli gruppi (produzione orale).

    Metodi di valutazione

    Svolgimento di un test scritto iniziale.
    Svolgimento di un test finale (sui contenuti dell'intero corso) con prova scritta e prova orale.
    La prova scritta, che dura 45 minuti e viene svolto in aula universitaria, è propedeuticità ad una eventuale prova orale. E’ prevista diverse tipologie (coniugazione dei verbi in un testo e produzioni di lessico medico o semplificazioni dei termini tecnici).
    Non è consentito consultare vocabolari o materiali didattici durante la prova.
    La prova orale è basato sulla discussione di un testo scientifico (es. descrizione di una malattia) ed un "roleplay" tra medico e paziente.
    Esito: idoneo 2 crediti.

    Review of all verb forms including present, past, future in with simple, continuous and perfect aspects
    Modal auxiliary verb forms and their functions
    All passive verb forms
    Conditional verb forms
    Lessico:medical terminology (see topics in content) and use of affixation in formation of medical terms.
    Comparison of technical and non-technical terms.
    Abilità : comprensione del testo, analisi del testo, , comprensione e produzione orale, note-taking.
    Poiché il contenuto linguistico (contenuto e capacità linguistica) è integrato, non è assegnato CFU/suddivisioni ore a ciascuno obbiettivo o parte della programma.

    Textbook and course materials

    Course materials are written specifically by the teachers and are available spiral bound from a local shop.

    Course objectives

    Teaching focuses on: the development of reading skills to comprehend complex technical and non-technical texts related to the work of a medical professional (e.g. scientific textbooks, journal articles, case studies);
    the acquisition of vocabulary and grammatical forms typical of complex scientific texts;
    the development of speaking skills to interact accurately and appropriately in professional contexts with medical professionals and patients.

    Prerequisites

    B2 (CEFR) level of English.

    Teaching methods

    All lessons are conducted using the Communicative Approach via plenary sessions integrating teacher explanation, individual practice (reading, grammar and vocabulary exercises) and oral practice in pairs or small groups. The course teachers are available for a weekly tutorial.

    Evaluation methods

    Initial written assessment test.
    Final written and oral test (based on course content). The written test lasts 45 minutes and is held in a university classroom. There are a variety of task types: text completion by conjugation of verb forms, production and simplification of medical terminology. Use of a dictionary or course materials is not permitted.
    Passing the written test (60% correct)is a prerequisite for the oral test. It is based on discussion of a text (e.g. a description of a disease), followed by a roleplay between a doctor and patient.

    Skills: reading comprehension, text analysis, listening comprehension, speaking and pronunciation.
    Course content is integrated so neither credits not classroom hours are specifically allocated to individual objectives.
